About the pianist
Originally from Taiwan, Evelyn Chang moved to London at the age of 13. She studied at The Purcell School of Music and at The Royal College of Music. Her studies were supported by the Russell Gandler Award and the St. Martyn's Scholarship.
In 2004, Evelyn made her London debut in the Park Lane Group Series held at the South Bank Centre. Her performances have been broadcast on BBC Live Music Now, BBC Radio 3, RTHK Radio 4, Taipei Classical Radio and on various European channels. As well as performing solo and chamber works from the standard classical repertoire, she is actively involved in promoting contemporary music and working closely with composers.
Evelyn's recording with violist Maxim Rysanov was released in March 2007 on Avie Records. The album was named Editor's Choice in Gramophone and Music Choice in BBC Music Magazine. In May 2009, her solo debut album Poets from the East was released on Avie Records. Future releases will include a recital album with clarinetist Cristo Barrios on RAL Records and a duo CD with Paul Dunmall.
Evelyn now resides in Hong Kong under the Hong Kong Government's Quality Migrant Scheme.
