A Life in Music

HKCMS offers you a rare opportunity to hear a wealth of delightful and often hilarious stories of life as a musician, as told by the renowned bassoonist Martin Gatt.  Martin became Principal Bassoonist of the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 21, and went on to other principal positions with the English Chamber Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. During his 50 years as a performer he has collaborated with many leading composers, conductors and soloists.  As a chamber music player, he was a founder member of the Tuckwell Wind Quintet which gave concerts all over the world.

Martin will talk about the musicians and events that have influenced him, and the joys and hardships of working in the music profession.  He will illustrate his talk with music that has played a significant part in his life.
