About the musicians:

Amy Sze (piano)

Dr. Amy Sze holds a Performer's Certificate and Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music. She was a recipient of the Avis D. Vaughn Scholarship, the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship.

Sze is winner of the 2001 Eastman Concerto Competition, and national finalist of the 2003 MTNA Steinway-Collegiate Artist Piano Competition (USA). She has appeared as soloist with the Texas Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra, the Eastman Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. She frequently records solo recitals for RTHK.

Sze was a teaching assistant in piano studies, accompanying and chamber music at the Eastman School of Music. Currently she is a faculty member of HKU, CUHK and HKAPA. She has also been an adjudicator at the 25th Macao Young Musicians Competition, the 14th Hong Kong - Asia Piano Open Competition, and the 3rd Asian Youth Music Competition.


Man-Shan Yap (piano)

After completing the Bachelor of Music Degree programme at HKAPA with a first-class honour, Man-Shan furthered her studies with a Master of Music Degree at the Eastman School of Music. She then obtained her Doctor of Musical Arts degree on full-tuition scholarships offered by Eastman.

A winner of numerous concerto competitions in Hong Kong and the USA, Man-Shan has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra and the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra. She has also recorded solo and duo programmes for RTHK.

In recent years, Man-Shan has developed a keen interest in chamber music. As an accompanying graduate assistant at Eastman and member of the Eastman Chamber Music Society, she has collaborated with numerous instrumentalists and singers. She was awarded the Excellence in Accompanying Prize 2005 at Eastman, and third prize in the piano category of the 2004 Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition.

In addition to her concerts in Hong Kong, Man-Shan has been invited to perform in Tokyo, New York, Guangzhou, and Macau. She was also a participant at the Aspen Summer Music Festival in Colorado, the TCU/ Cliburn Piano Institute in Texas, and the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
